Pay attention. IRCC has updated its proof-of-funds requirements.
For applications submitted on or after September 1st, 2026, a single student must show at least $23,448 for living expenses.
And remember, this amount does NOT include your tuition fees or transportation costs.
But simply showing money in your bank account may not be enough.
IRCC can assess where the money came from and whether those funds are actually available to you.
You may need six months of bank statements, along with documents explaining the source of your funds.
So, before submitting your study permit application, make sure your financial documentation tells a clear and credible story.
